Berryville, VA – The Clarke County Education Foundation is excited to announce the expansion of the Clarke County Nutrition Alliance, allowing the program to serve even more local students during the upcoming school year.
Since its launch, the Nutrition Alliance has brought together individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and community partners around one shared goal: ensuring no Clarke County student goes hungry because of financial hardship. Thanks to this incredible community support, the Alliance has raised nearly $40,000, making it possible to expand the program’s reach.
For the upcoming school year, the Nutrition Alliance will continue to provide automatic meal assistance to families whose household incomes fall between 185% and 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, a group that often earns too much to qualify for traditional free or reduced-price meal programs but still struggles to afford the cost of school meals.
In addition, the Alliance has established a new Special Assistance Nutritional Supplemental Fund Application for families experiencing temporary financial hardships. This additional pathway provides confidential assistance to families facing unexpected challenges such as job loss, significant medical expenses, or other unforeseen financial circumstances.
“One of the greatest strengths of our community is the way we come together to care for one another,” said Beth Williams, Executive Director of the Clarke County Education Foundation. “Because of the generosity of so many donors, we’ve been able to expand this program and create a compassionate, confidential process that helps ensure students have access to the nutritious meals they need to succeed in school.”
The Nutrition Alliance works closely with Clarke County Public Schools to administer the program while protecting student and family privacy. All applications are reviewed confidentially using clearly established eligibility guidelines to ensure assistance reaches families with the greatest need.
Nutritious meals are more than just food, they are essential to student learning, health, attendance, and academic success. By helping remove the financial burden of school meals, the Nutrition Alliance allows students to focus on what matters most: learning and reaching their full potential.
The Clarke County Education Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to every donor who has supported the Nutrition Alliance. Your generosity is making a lasting difference in the lives of Clarke County students and families.
